FORMULATION:
Each vial contains:
Ampicillin Sodium
Equivalent to Ampicillin . . . . . . . . . 1 g
INDICATIONS:
Infections caused by susceptible gram positive and gram negative organisms (Respiratory tract et.) Septicaemia, Meningitis, Chronic Bronchitis. Otitis media, Sinusitis, invasivesalmonellasis, Cholecystisis
CAUTION:
Foods, Drugs, Devices & Cosmetics Act prohibits dispensing without prescription
STORAGE:
Store at temperature not exceeding 30° C. Protect from light.

 

DOSAGE:
Ampicillin is administered by injection in usual dose of 500 mg every 4 to 6 hours intramuscularly, or it may be given by slow intravenous injection over 3 to 5 minutes or by infusion. Higher parenteral doses of 1 to 2 gm given intravenously over 10 to 15 minutes every 3 to 6 hours (maximum 14 gm daily) have been suggested for serious infections such as meningitis. Children may be given half the Ampicillin Sodium is administered by IM or slow IV injection or IV infusion. Direct IV Injections should be made slowly over 10 to 15 of seizures, for intermittent IV infusion the concentration of Ampicillin and rate of infusion should be adjusted so that the total dosage of the drug is administered before 10% or more of the drug inactivated in the IV solution.
